Joyce Keyes (Fond du Lac Red Cross Disaster Coordinator) -On the impact her deployment to Greensburg Kansas had on her as well as one of the residents affected by the tornado that ripped through the town in spring of 2007: "When the woman answered the door, she looked tired and distraught. Visitors at her door were about the last thing that she wanted at that moment. As the woman sat on the couch and listened to the help that Red Cross was able to provide her family, she broke down crying. It was evident that this woman's tears were tears of joy and relief that someone was there to help. As a Red Cross worker that is what it is all about, for a moment we were able to light up this womans life and give her hope. It was truly remarkable." |

Jennifer Hesemann (Red Cross Intern, Ripon College) -On presenting Red Cross Disaster Preparedness programs to Fond du Lav County elementary students. "The nice thing about the Dare to Prepare program is that Red Cross student volunteers faciliate the presentation, supply all the learning materials, and truly understand the impact and need for children and their parents to be prepared for disasters." |

Nancy Collver (Volunteer Office Assistant) -On how her volunteer experience and the Red Cross has changed her. "When I started volunteering at the American Red Cross in January of 2007, I was at a pretty low spot. Now, I look forward to each day, because I come here and enjoy all the wonderful people I get to work with and for. I have always enjoyed helping people, and here at the Red Cross I certainly get to fulfill that desire. |

Suzanne Angell (Volunteer Office Assistant) -On the rewards of her volunteer duties. "One of the duties I perform is to take Armed Forces Emergency Communication messages. This is a way people stateside can get in contact with loved ones in the military. I enjoy this because in a small way it makes me feel that I am helping the men and women who are fighting for you and me and our country. The FDL Red Cross is a community based operation run by well trained and committed people that are doing their part to make Fond du Lac a better place to live." |
